Lately I've been doing some research concerning mobile apps monetization. There are many ways to monetize mobile apps and selecting the best way can guarantee better income for you and your company. I've watched a session from Google IO 2012 which was mainly about monetizing android apps but many of the concepts are applicable to iOS apps and publishing for other platforms.

One of the most interesting parts is this chart, showing how to monetize your app. It's simply genius.

And then the second part of the talk was about advertising based on the fact that 68% of apps on the Google Play Store are Free.

They talked about types of ads and i was surprised that if your app has search then the ads on the search results page are much more profitable than most of other types of ads. They give 3x greater eCPM and 5x higher CTR.

They discussed the importance of testing different networks and mediation that is now supported by admob and can help reduce your apps' eCPM Fluctuations.

I believe that monetizing mobile apps is not an easy job and it mainly depends on measuring user engagement and designing how you can make money from the app/game without making the users annoyed either about paying or about badly designed ads.
